Well this device works well, but only in the speakers direction. So it is more suitable for training your own dog than for self defence purposes against horde of dogs.
I ordered one after being at my mum's house and using hers on the dogs. The noise part of it works better on my 11 year old Maltese x shitzhu because I think the high frequency doesn't work on his old ears. The high frequency works very well on my nearly 2 year old red cattle dog though!! I would definitely recommend it to everyone. it has a rechargeable too so no need for batteries and a handy wrist loop to put on it too.
